André Demers, the adopted son of Willie Demers, tells us that his father Willie Demers had rescued men in an underground mine accident in 1943 at Thetford Mines. He had received a gold watch as an act of bravery (see the photo of the watch with the inscription).
The photo on the left is of him when he was working underground. “He was 40 years old when he adopted me with his wife. He was a worthy descendant of the first “Demers” who showed a lot of generosity throughout his life. ”
