BEING PROUD OF OUR SURNAME

In the spring of 2017, we invited our Facebook Friends to locate streets or other posters with the name Demers, take a picture of them and send them to us to create an album on our page.

VISIT OF THE DEMERS ALLEY 2017

As part of the 375th of Montreal, two alleys were awarded for their exceptional layout, including the Demers alley.

You will see on the right, some photos of the Demers alley, a  street that was “flowered” shortly before 2017. This alley bears this name in honour of Father Louis Demers, the last of the Récollets of whom we talked a lot during the St-Pierre-les-Becquets Reunion. He contributed greatly to the construction and development of this region in addition to being a member of Suzanne’s family and a little cousin to André. His brother, Brother Alexis, also contributed at the same time and was even guaranteed housing, clothing and food by Marie-Josephte Hamelin-Laganière, the wife of Alain’s ancestor, Louis-Gaspard married in 1771 in Bécancour by Father Louis. What a small world!!
